Exterior and Interior
Wash and Wax: Give the car a thorough wash and apply a coat of wax. This protects the paint from environmental contaminants and moisture while stored.
Clean the Interior: Vacuum and remove all trash and food items. Open doors/windows briefly (if humidity allows) to let air circulate, reducing the chance of mildew.
Apply Parking Brake Sparingly: If storing for more than a few weeks, it’s generally recommended to leave the parking brake off to prevent the pads/shoes from rusting to the rotors/drums. Instead, use wheel chocks to secure the vehicle.
Use a Car Cover: Use a high-quality, breathable car cover to protect the finish from dust, moisture, and accidental scratches. Never use a plastic tarp, which traps moisture and encourages rust and paint damage.
