Preparing your Car for the Winter Storage

B

Exterior and Interior

  • Wash and Wax: Give the car a thorough wash and apply a coat of wax. This protects the paint from environmental contaminants and moisture while stored.

  • Clean the Interior: Vacuum and remove all trash and food items. Open doors/windows briefly (if humidity allows) to let air circulate, reducing the chance of mildew.

  • Apply Parking Brake Sparingly: If storing for more than a few weeks, it’s generally recommended to leave the parking brake off to prevent the pads/shoes from rusting to the rotors/drums. Instead, use wheel chocks to secure the vehicle.

  • Use a Car Cover: Use a high-quality, breathable car cover to protect the finish from dust, moisture, and accidental scratches. Never use a plastic tarp, which traps moisture and encourages rust and paint damage.

To ensure your vehicle is completely protected, we strongly recommend our Winter Storage Interior Sanitation.  We don’t just clean the surface—we use professional steam sanitation to kill 99.9% of mold spores, bacteria, and eliminate the microscopic organic matter that attracts pests.11 It’s the only way to guarantee a fresh, odor-free, and pest-resistant interior when you pull the car out.
